We Will Rock You memory lane

As of typing up this entry, I have watched WWRY six times. Five of those six were at the Dominion Theatre in West End. Let's have a look down memory lane...

Number 1
Was with my parents and family friends. We sat in the Circle, dead centre. Had MiG as Galileo, Hannah Jane Fox as Scaramouche, Sharon D. Clarke as Killer Queen, Kerry Ellis as Meat, Clive Carter as Khashoggi and Chris Holland as Brit. Rather subdued, considering I was with my parents.

Number 2
Was with Nina. Got discount thanks to the Queen DVDs I'd bought. We sat in the stalls, dead centre, approx 20 rows from the stage. Had the same cast as before, except Mazz Murray had taken over as Killer Queen. Had mad fun giggling with Nina. Highlight: Inside the theatre, I was about to walk up the stairs when Nina tugged me towards the stalls. Me: "WE HAVE STALL SEATS?" Nina: "YES, YOU MORON." Had more appreciation for the music this time round.

Number 3
With what would become my London theatre posse, featuring A, D and their mate whose name I can't remember right now. Got discount thanks to another Queen DVD I'd bought. We sat approx 5 rows from the stage, way right near the speakers, and were almost deafened. Same cast as Number 2, except Kerry Ellis has been replaced by Jenna Lee James. Managed to look straight up into the faces of the ensemble during Radio Ga Ga, and spotted Chris Holland in the ensemble, haha! Highlight: Hearing A & D simultaneously go, "OMG ARMS!" when MiG lost the jacket. The most awesome audience I'd ever been in, with mad cheering and psycho fans laughing and screeching throughout, leading to MiG, Hannah, Clive and Mazz being so spastastically happy during the curtain calls.

Number 4
With the London theatre posse, but including K. Got discount seats again because of the WWRY book I'd bought. Sat approx 8 rows from the stage, way left near the speakers. Same cast as Number 2, except Hannah had been replaced by Jenna Lee James, Clive Carter had been replaced by Alex Bourne, and less-than-awesome understudies had taken over as Meat and Killer Queen. Highlight: BRIAN MAY WAS IN THE AUDIENCE. Managed to see the original Brit Nigel Clauzel for the first time, but he looked like he didn't want to be there. Lots of cheering, but felt a bit disappointing because the Number 3 performance was just so good.

Number 5
With Jean and Lil during the 2007 holiday. I didn't want to go for it, because I remembered viewing Number 4 as disappointment, but I really wanted to share the experience with the girls. Got discount tickets from vendors, sat approx 12 rows from the stage, somewhat right. Completely new cast, the principals retained were Jenna Lee James as a much-improved Scaramouche with roof-shattering vocals, a very comfortable Mazz Murray, and a more confident Alex Bourne. Colin Charles as Brit was hilariously funny, Peter Johanssen as Galileo gave delivery flashbacks to MiG. Plenty of cheering and giggling, enjoyed spotting the changes in the show, overall was fun to be with the girls.

Number 6
With the Singapore road trip crew. Had lowered expectations because it's a tour production, but got BLOWN AWAY BECAUSE OF SHEER AWESOMENESS (except for fresh-faced Scaramouche, sad to say). Cheered like a mad woman, was much relieved when the audience picked up in Act 2 to cheer on as well. Highlight: Three principal cast members pointing at us during the show, WOO!

I ran across a link to this blog, and wondered if you met MiG!

Nope, but my friends and I are hoping to the next time we watch it.
